One of my favorite things about Seattle is the opportunity to immerse myself in nature. Nothing (and I really do mean nothing) makes me happier than the mountains, trees, and ocean. It had been over a year since I hopped on a ferry to Bainbridge Island, so I played hooky last Friday afternoon (no, I didn’t skip class – I just didn’t do any work 😉 ) and spent the afternoon exploring.
It was a lovely day to take the ferry (although it did end up raining for part of it!) and it was almost warm enough to walk around without a jacket. The ride only took about 35-40 minutes and it’s an easy way to get one of the best landscape views of the city.
I decided it would be better to take my car over to the island, not realizing that we could have easily walked into town ← beginners mistake! I also have to admit that I was terrified to drive my car on the ferry. While I know it’s completely absurd to think that my car’s breaking system would fail and we would fly off the boat, it did come to mind 🙂
Once we offloaded from the ferry, we drove into town to drop off the car and begin exploring. I really wanted to visit Harbour Public House again because the food and drinks are great, and it’s right on the water! This ↓ was the little deck leading up to the bar.
The food at Harbour Public House was just as amazing, and the views just as stunning, as my last visit. We sneaked a table outside (it had a fire pit in the middle!) but it started to rain about 20 minutes into our meal :-/ Gosh darn, Seattle!
While this ↑ was not taken on Bainbridge, there were a lot of Cherry Trees blooming on the island and they were so gorgeous! Makes me a little homesick for DC: I’m sad to miss the blossoms this year!
The longer I live here, the more I fall in love with Seattle. If you’ve noticed that I’ve been especially instagram happy these days, it’s because Spring is coming and I can’t help but photograph the changing seasons. There is so much to do and explore, and I can’t wait for summer to arrive!
I’ve also made an active effort to spend more time having some fun. As many of you know, last quarter was brutal, and I’ve realized that when I am able to completely step away from school and enjoy my life, I’m more productive and overall, a much happier person!
- Have you taken a ferry ride before?
- Are there Cherry Trees in your city? Or any signs of Spring?
- Seafood – yay or nay?
